The Cuyahoga County Department of Public Works has informed the City of Maple Heights that Ronyak Paving is tentatively scheduled to install the asphalt surface course on Rockside Road, from East 140th Street to the westerly approach of the Rockside Road Bridge over the Norfolk & Southern Railroad, in late September or early October. This work is highly weather dependent and additional updates will be provided. The projected surface course installation completion is slightly ahead of the October 15, 2025 schedule originally submitted by the contractor.
Ronyak Paving has started work on the adjustment of castings in the Phase 2 section of the project and will follow up immediately with miscellaneous curb, ADA curb ramps, and sidewalk work. A short section of full depth pavement repairs at the Norfolk & Southern Railroad bridge approach will also be completed prior to the final paving of the entire roadway surface.
The contractor will continue to maintain at least one lane of traffic in each direction at all times and minimize disruption to traffic and driveway access during construction as much as possible.
Please proceed with caution through the work zone for your safety and the safety of the construction workers. If work is occurring directly in front of your house, you may temporarily lose access to your driveway. The contractor will restore access to your driveway as soon as work progresses past your driveway.
The 1.36 mile long Rockside Road Resurfacing Project is sponsored jointly by Cuyahoga County and the City of Maple Heights. The City and County jointly secured $2.35 million in federal funds through the Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating agency and will split the balance of costs equally. The construction contract cost of awarded to Ronyak Paving is valued at $2,538,569.85.
Construction is scheduled to be completed by October 31, 2025 and updates can be found at https://www.cuyahogacounty.gov/publicworks.
Your continuing patience and cooperation is appreciated.
