MAPLE HEIGHTS INFANT MORTALITY REPORTED AT ZERO FOR 2021

Mayor Annette M. Blackwell is pleased to share that there were zero infant deaths reported in 2021 within Maple Heights, as provided by the most recent data from the Neighborhood Leadership Institute (NLI).

This zero death data number reflects upon the Mayor’s initiative, and the  important collaborative work between Mayor Blackwell, the City’s Department of Human Services, MHPD, and MHFD; all of whom participated in a NLI led workshop for the city’s first responders.  Additionally, the city provided community resources and outreach with the community viewing of  ‘Toxic: A Black Woman’s Story’, which describes racism, stress, and what effect those have on the pregnancy outcomes of Black women.  The Infant Mortality rate remains an extremely high priority for Mayor Blackwell’s administration.
