Thank you to everyone who came out last evening to listen to the presentations from both the City Schools Superintendent Dr. Keenan and Mayor Blackwell. It was absolutely wonderful to see the crowd, and hear the positive messages from both Dr. Keenan and Mayor Blackwell. In addition to these presentations by the Superintendent and the Mayor, we offer special congratulations to Maple Heights Catering, named the 2022 Maple Heights Business of the Year; and Reverend Dr. Terry Webb, 2022 Maple Heights Citizen of the Year. Mayor Blackwell bestowed these honors during her presentation, and both received framed Proclamations, and Dr. Webb additionally received a Key to the City.
Maple Heights Catering was opened on February 3, 1949 by Andy Sr. and Jenny Hocevar. Located at 17330 Broadway Avenue, the business was a poultry and seafood house, and in the 1960s, brothers Andy Jr. and Richard took over the family business and started catering. Now in its third and fourth generation, the business has been a mainstay for residents of Maple Heights. The proclamation in part, states, “WHEREAS, the Maple Heights Catering family are real ambassadors of the City of Maple Heights remaining true and steadfast to the community in good times and bad and grateful to their longtime and new customers.” “Whatever you try, you will taste the love and pride that goes into each and every serving.” Congratulations to Maple Heights Catering!
Reverend Dr. Terry Webb was installed as Pastor of Christian Unity Baptist Church on January 25, 2015, and along with his wife Tracy Webb, have made Maple Heights their home for 20 years. Pastor Webb is unconditionally committed to the youth and families in the community. Under his leadership, Christian Unity Baptist Church (CUBC) sponsors an annual Youth Community Weekend, an annual Blessing in a Backpack program to get children ready for school, Thanksgiving Baskets and Christmas Adopt a Family for those in need of assistance. The proclamation in part, states, “ WHEREAS, Pastor Webb steadfastly supports the City of Maple Heights. He opened the doors of his church to host community meetings to introduce residents to a new senior living facility, supported community programs such as Music in the Park and Food Distributions within the City and shared Thanksgiving reflections with our seniors at the Maple Heights Senior Center.” Congratulations to Dr. Webb!
